The Stateline Farm Beginnings® 8th year (2012-2013) application is now available! Apply before August 15th for the Early Bird Discount. Application deadline: September 1, 2012


Stateline Farm Beginnings® is a farmer-led training and support program designed to help people plan and launch sustainable farm businesses. Since 2005, graduates of the program have launched more than 40 new sustainable farms in our region!

The one-year Stateline Farm Beginnings® program has three components:


Winter course (October to March): nine business planning sessions that focus on goal-setting and planning  for profit.


Training events: 10 CRAFT field day workshops (April to October) at sustainable farms around the region.


Mentoring from a successful sustainable farmer in your field of interest. Mentoring arrangements are flexible, taking employment and family situations into account.


Course Fee: $1500 We offer scholarships and encourage you to apply. Flexible payment plans available.

The course fee includes:

  • 45 hours of classroom time
  • Course supplies (including books and course binder)
  • CRAFT membership for one year
  • $200 one-on-one mentoring payment (paid to the mentor of your choice)
  • $100 reimbursement for skills building workshops you attend
